Naomi Campbell lobbying for more black models
Supermodel Naomi Campbell has urged the fashion industry to use more black models on the catwalk.
She was reduced to tears when she collected the Special Recognition Award at the British Fashion Awards in London, in honour of her 25-year modelling career.
"We''re all aware that we need to introduce more women (of colour). But what I''ve seen recently is that I''ve seen it go backwards slightly. We need to raise awareness again and need to start using women of colour more," the Daily Star quoted her as telling London''s Evening Standard.
"When I look at the shows this season, there weren''t as many as a year-and-a-half ago. We''ve got to keep speaking out, so as boring as it may be, if you hear me saying it over and over again I have to stand up for my fellow comrades (sic).
"It''s not for myself, but the younger girls who come up to me and say, ''We didn''t get used this season, we didn''t do this, someone used 81 models and didn''t use one of us''. In that respect if they come up and talk to me, and I''m able to speak on their behalf, then I will," she said.

Nelson Mandela inspires Naomi Campbell
Super model Naomi Campbell has revealed that she looks up to former South African president Nelson Mandela for inspiration when times get tough for her.
The British beauty has formed a close bond with Mandela since their meeting in early 1990s and he fondly refers to her as his "honorary granddaughter".
She says his fight for freedom during South Africa's apartheid gives her the strength to overcome her troubles, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
"I have to pinch myself sometimes because who in the world doesn't want to know Nelson Mandela? But I've been extremely blessed to have been in his presence many times...He's someone who I often think about when things get tough and life isn't full of roses. Nothing can be as hard as what he went through," she said.
"Now, I don't have his constitution for forgiving. I hope one day to acquire that. But I don't hold grudges either. When things happen, I just kind of want to move away from them for a while and hope that things will come back in a more positive light," she said.

Naomi Campbell Poses for a Gory Photo Shoot
The 40 year old super-model, Naomi Campbell, posed for a gory, yet kinky photo shoot for Interview magazine, wearing black leather with a naked, lifeless and blood-stained model.
And it looked like she had walked on to the set of a Saw film, the tiled walls and blood-stained floors reminiscent of the first instalment of the horror franchise.
Naomi posed for the photo shoot for Interview and a chat with New York art gallery owner Tony Shafrazi for the U.S. publication and spoke to him about her illustrious career on the catwalk.
Naomi was discovered while out shopping in London at the age of 15 and appeared on the cover of Elle the following year.
Soon she was gracing catwalks all over the road, while becoming part of the group of girls - Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington, Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer, and Helena Christensen - who would become the world's first 'supermodels'.

Naomi Campbell's Charitable Dance Delivery
Showing she's still got the moves, Naomi Campbell was all energy at Dolce & Gabbana's Madison Avenue boutique on Friday night (September 10).
Held as part of the Fashion's Night Out festivities, the timeless supermodel celebrated twenty-five years of modeling with a special choreographed dance.
Put together by Lady Gaga's creative director, Laurieann Gibson, NY Daily News tells that the routine was inspired by "a little black panther who rises above to be victorious."
With charitable donations and autograph purchases going to Fashion For Relief, Naomi twice broke out her rear-shaking steps to "Run This Town," by Rihanna, Jay-Z and Kanye West.

Naomi Campbell 'not ready for kids'
Naomi Campbell has reportedly admitted that she hasn't got plans to have children because she lives her life "one day at a time".
The supermodel is currently dating Russian billionaire Vladimir Doronin and wants things to happen "naturally".
Asked when she intends to have kids, she told Elle: "Whenever God decides it's right for me. I don't put pressure on myself. I let things happen how they should naturally. That's how I am today.
"I'm a recovering alcoholic and addict and I don't drink and I don't do drugs. I live my life one day at a time."
The 40-year-old also revealed that she is passionate about cooking and is content with herself.
She continued: "The kitchen's very important to me. Sometimes I cook for my man, for my cousins, for my friends. I'm happy the way I am right now."
